In the 14 years I've been
traveling in SE Asia, I have always managed to end up in Southern Thailand
for a month or two every winter. I discovered the area around the city of
Krabi on my first trip in 1988 and have been going back to the same places
ever since. These pictures are from my trip in February, 2002.
Behold! Phra Nang Beach,
Railay Beach, and the island of Ko Phi Phi (pronounced PP).
On the next several pages you'll discover why I keep going back to what I
consider the most beautiful place on Earth. The beaches are lovely, the
water is still clean (for the most part), the food is fantastic, and the
living easy.
It's also a great place to get a tan in February, when the weather is
terrible in Central Oregon and the weather is at it's best in Thailand. It's
the dry season and it's hot and humid and just *awesome*! It's a special
place for me and I have considered Phra Nang my winter home for over a
decade now, and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.
The first page is devoted to the few days I spent in Bangkok, checking out
the sights and visiting with my Thai internet friend, Miss Tu. She's a
lovely lady and we always get together when I'm there. After that are the
pictures of me and Barb in Phra Nang and Phi Phi.
