Most of these pictures were taken on January 8th 2005, or 13 days after the tsunami.

As of the first of March 2005 the cleanup and recovery were well on it's way, as was the rebuilding and planning for next season.

Got pictures of the tsunami damage on Ko Jum/Ko Pu? I'll include them here if you email them to me.

Click pic for larger view.

Season Bungalow, Ko Jum.

This is the resort between Ko Jum Lodge and the Golden Pearl.

These pictures don't do justice to the hammering this resort got from the waves.

Thanks to Makut for clueing me in to its real name.

There was a Danish couple with their four children staying in this hut when the tsunami struck. I got an email from the woman (Susanne) after she saw this site. Click here for the story of their close call and escape from disaster.

Woodland Lodge, Ko Jum.

WL owners Ray and Bao lost all of their cheapie bungalows along the front and a few of their better huts were damaged. All of WL's beautiful landscaping got washed away, as did their bar. The restaurant got flooded, but the only real damage was to the roof. The boat ended up jammed against a bungalow.

They are open and rebuilding.

More pix of Woodland Lodge, taken December 26th, right afterwards.
