Me and my girlfriend had the chance to go to the Oregon Coast for the weekend in May, 2003. We drove down from Bend and visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium and went to the annual Lincoln City Kite Festival.

We had a superb time.

On the left is a picture of the star of the Aquarium (now that Keiko lives in Finland), a Leafy Sea Dragon. It's half plant, half animal and one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

 		    

 

 
    The Aquarium has a huge tank filled with sea lions that you can look at thru underwater glass enclosures. Here are a couple shots of the clowns of the sea.

When we finally got down to Lincoln City we stayed at a great hotel called The Inn at Spanish Head, one of the best hotels in town. Barb was attending a dental conference, so she was busy with that all day Friday. I spent the day walking on the beach and flying kites....

The kite festival was on Saturday and, it being the Coast, it rained the entire time we were there. It was so wet that I only got a couple pictures of some of the hundreds of kites that people who were braver than me were flying.
